National Association of Minority Contractors-South Carolina
In January 2011, a group of businessmen and contractors met with Columbia’s Mayor Steve Benjamin in order to determine ways the City of Columbia can increase minority participation in obtaining contracts with the City. After a series of meetings among themselves, the group decided to form an organized body to address the concerns of minority contractors as it relates to contracting opportunities across the State of South Carolina.

On February 3, 2011, the South Carolina Minority Contractors Association (SCMCA) certified with the Secretary of State as a Non-Profit Corporation. On January 17, 2015 the name was officially changed to the National Association of Minority Contractors-South Carolina.
